The Proust Effect

Most people have a song so deeply evocative that hearing the first few notes instantly transports to them— to a summer, a relationsho, a trip, a stretch of highway, a heartbreak. Sometimes, a song is so gut-wrenchingly nostalgic we have to yell out from the back of a car to skip it. On this show, we’d invite people to share a song and where it takes them; whether that’s to a distinct memory, person, or place. Our weekly guest would bring 3-4 songs and stories with them and we’d relate with ones of our own.
